This year I took on the daunting task of creating two new break-away Nutcrackers for Lafayette Center for Dance and their annual production of 'The Nutcracker', replacing the over-worked (and under paid) soldier who has been in the show for MANY years and was ready for retirement:
I heavily modified an off-the-shelf Nutcracker I purchased at Wal-Mart with new pieces and parts to match his life-sized counterpart's existing costume and added some strategic dowels and Velcro so he didn't fall apart (until he was supposed to...)
We've loved being part of this show for the last four years, and I'm proud to have finally left my artistic mark on it!
Finally got to sit long enough to edit a NEW VIDEO on the making of puppets for "Winnie the Pooh" earlier this month with Lafayette Society for Performing Arts!
I've been given the opportunity and freedom to create a few of my own puppetry *moments* in Lafayette Society for Performing Arts' "Winnie the Pooh" that I'm VERY excited about and can't wait to share more of!
Last week we visited Harry Potter: The Exhibition a special interactive pop-up in Atlanta, unlike anything I've visited before!
It's a beautifully put together experience (and the ticket price isn't bad either...) with TONS of props and costumes from the HP films (and Fantastic Beasts, too) and more photo-ops than you can wave a wand at!
They're only open through the end of February (EDIT: their stay has been extended through Spring Break, before they move the exhibit to NYC!), and I would definitely recommend a visit if you're a fan of the Wizarding World. But don't rush yourself, the website states the self-guided tour lasts rough 60-90 mins, but, in the end, we stayed for more than THREE AND A HALF HOURS taking it all in.
I'll have more to share soon, but I have to finish sifting through the HUNDREDS of pictures and videos we took that day!
