Please forgive my recent absence, I've been recovering from a very busy two weeks abroad...
Or rather, sleeping a lot because traveling makes me tired...
Either way, I'm back now!
The Goosebumps films (and, yes, even Slappy) have opened some amazing doors for me since February of 2014. If my last two weeks were any indication, there's no sign of that stopping any time soon!
This chapter of my Goosebumps story started in Atlanta, as they often do, where I was involved in a very ambitious one-day shoot for CN. I can't share any details, but it was an absolute blast and the crew was out of this world! Rumor has it that the spot will start running on October 8th, so I'll share more once it get close!
Once that work was done it was off to the airport! Flying immediately into the heart of New York for some more fun! Every time I'm there, it sinks in once again how crazy it is that I get paid to do what I love and dreamed about as a ridiculously shy 12 year old.
What made it even better this time, though, was getting to bring Audrey along with me. She made this time all the more special. We got to see a few Broadway shows, take in the sights, and she even assisted in puppeteering Slappy on a few occasions! I'm incredibly lucky to have such a supportive woman by my side through all this craziness, and to get to spoil her as best I can along the way.
Only 46 days until I get to marry her!
In between all of our crazy adventurings, we had four (LONG) days of shooting in various stages in the city for a handful different ad campaigns with Hulu, Spirit Halloween, Freeform, Scholastic, an a handful of others that I'm sure I'm forgetting. This movie is HUGE, people!
My last day was comprised of 10+ hours of SOLO Slappy work, primarily for International campaigns and the forthcoming Blu-Ray Bonus Features (SUPER pumped about those, by the way...) At the end of the day I hurt all over, my voice was shot, and every muscle in my body ached, but I made it through relatively unscathed... though there was a falling chair incident that Slappy won't permit me to mention...
The cast and crews that came together for all of these shoots are some of the hardest working people out there, and deserve some serious love for executing all of the madness in every little thing we did. I don't now how they did it, but I sure am glad they did!
Twelve days of traveling in style and being treated like a celebrity might have gone to Slappy's head, but not mine... I'm still waiting for someone to realize that I'm just a socially awkward puppeteer and kindly show me to the door. In the meantime, there's lots more work on the horizon, AND I'm (hopefully) releasing a new video or two on later this week, BUT time will tell. Whenever Slappy calls I must answer.
I don't know when I might adjust back to my everyday reality.
Soon, maybe.
But probably not.
Goodnight all,
Avery
